This listing is for a beautiful limited edition museum quality signed Fine art print of a modern depiction of the Aztec Moon Goddess Coyolxauhqui. The art print measures 16x20inches printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm fine art paper of archival quality with 200+ years fade-resistant ink. This print also features hand-detailed gold paint. Only 100 will be printed on canvas, you will receive a numbered edition. Once these are printed it will be archived forever.

The story of Coyolxauhqui begins when her mother, Earth Goddess and Priestess, Coatlicue found a shining feather outside the temple one night. When Coatlicue picked up the feather she became pregnant with Huitzilopochtli. Believing her mother had dishonored the family, Coyolxauhqui convinced her 400 brothers to kill their own mother. As Coatlicue was surrounded, a shining voice came through of Huitzilopochtli that he would save her. In that moment Huitzilopochtli came out of the womb fully formed and protected his mother. He dismembered Coyolxauhqui and threw her to the heavens where she became the moon and her brothers became the stars.

Coyolxauhqui represents the lunar feminine energies of the psyche. I found her story tragic and beautiful, I wanted to express my love for the moon and for the complexity we all hold within.
